First run after the marathon

Today I finally put my running shoes back on for the first time after the marathon! And before you ask: No, I haven’t stayed away from running because my legs needed it – honestly, already on December 2nd my legs felt fine and ready for runs again. The reason I haven’t been running is that on our way back from Italy I caught a really really bad cold. But now I’m fine again, and thank goodness for that because I was really starting to go mental not doing anyhing active haha.
My original plan was to get to the gym super early, but because I am my own boss (haha) I decided to change the plans. So I took the bus home and ran on my own treadmill instead. The treadmills at the gym always get occupied by walking seniors in the morning so you have to get there really early if you want one haha. I know I run better on the treadmills at the gym than I do at home because I get all competitive with other people around me, but today I just didn’t feel like going to the gym. I only ran for 30 minutes, and apperantly I didn’t run more than 4,51 km (I swear, my treadmill is a LIAR, I ran freakishly fast today!). It didn’t really matter to me that I only ran for 30 minutes though, it just felt really nice to be running again.
So what do you do for 2 weeks when you can’t run? I’ve been getting ready for Christmas, of course! I’m almost done with all the presents – only 2 left now. And I’ve watched the Pretty Little Liars Christmas special enough times now to know all the lines haha. We also finally got some snow! Not a lot, but snow is snow and I’m super excited about it.
And this is random, but I got a black toenail after the marathon! Or, a black dot haha.

What have you been doing lately?
Are you ready for Christmas?

12 Thoughts on “First run after the marathon

  1. Awww, look at your poor toe πŸ™ That’s really not to bad though, I seen some big toe bloody pictures on blogs. What tat do you have on your foot? Look at your fancy wrap presents, very pretty!! Glad you got run today πŸ™‚

  2. Wow you’re like a professional gift wrapper! Your packages all look so pretty!

Glad you’re feeling better and over that cold! I know that’s the worst to be sick in bed. I’ve read that it’s common for people to get sick after running a marathon. I think the article I read said that the stress you put on your body in the later stages of a full marathon really wrecks havoc on your immune system making you more likely to get a cold. Also, you’re exposed to so many people and so many germs in a short period of time, it makes sense!

Cool black toenail! πŸ™‚ I’ve had a couple of them, but usually paint over the black!

    • Hahahah thank you :3
Perfect time to get sick though, makes it easier to get enough rest days after the marathon πŸ™‚ But I’m really glad I can run again now!
I don’t want to paint over it, I feel too badass with my black dot HAHA!

  3. I still have a fair amount of shopping to do, but I feel like I get it done in a day.
I am glad you are feeling better. It is no fun being sick. I wish we would get some more snow here. It has mostly melted.
You did a great job wrapping your gifts. That is a job my husband and I do together with a glass of wine…

    • Good you’ll be able to finish the last shopping in a day πŸ™‚
Awe, that sucks πŸ™ I hope you’ll get some snow again before Christmas!
Thank you πŸ˜€ That sounds like a really nice tradition πŸ™‚

  4. Yay! First post marathon run! I am happy you are over your cold! πŸ™‚ And look at all those beautiful presents! Now that I am done with my marathon, I feel like I can focus on xmas πŸ™‚

What does your foot tattoo say?

  5. What is the tattoo on your foot? I have been thinking about getting one, but it has to be the right time and fit for me. ☺ I came down with a cold a week after my marathon too. I think my body was fatigued and finally ready to just do nothing. I guess it’s pretty common to get sick a few days after a marathon. Needless to day, I haven’t been doing any physical activity either.

I’m hoping we get some snow for Christmas. I have been doing a lot of shopping and present wrapping!!! Getting excited!

    • “Memento Vivere” πŸ™‚ Ooh that’s cool πŸ˜€ Where and what are you thinking you want?
I actually think it’s a good time to get sick – after a marathon I mean, makes it easier to get the rest you need and not jump back into training too quickly after. Glad I’m not the only one haha πŸ™‚

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you to get snow before Christmas ;D

  6. Hooray for being able to run again – hope your cold is gone!
Your gifts looked great wrapped – I’m not a good wrapper:)
I think I will wrap presents this weekend.

    • I know, yayy! πŸ˜€
I feel pretty great now, but I’m also working really hard on making sure I don’t catch it again haha.
Thank you! πŸ˜€ I LOOOVE wrapping presents!
Sounds like a great way to spend the weekend!
